Review:
Fibaro Heat Controller Radiator Thermostat
Installation on the Homey:
The first controller on which we will install the Heat Controller is the Homey Pro from Athom. We start by removing the old thermostatic valve. You do not need any tools for this, but water pump pliers can be useful if your tap is a bit stuck. Once you have removed the tap, screw the Fibaro Heat Controller back on. Various adapters are included, so if the tap does not fit with the standard connection, you can use these to get it to fit. When it is stuck, we press the button at the bottom for 1 second. The LED on the front will light up.
A separate temperature sensor is included with this tap. To connect it, we remove the cover on the back and remove the sticker from the battery. Then we press into the hole with the supplied pin. Now the LED will flash green 5x to indicate that it is paired. If this does not work, press and hold the button on the thermostat until the LED turns blue and then press again to select. Now we wait for a while and press again with the pin in the sensor. You will then see the LED ring of the tap flash green 5x to indicate that the pairing has been successful.
Now we can also add it to the Homey. Start the Homey APP and go to your devices and press the plus sign at the top right. Then search for Fibaro and select the Heat Controller.
Now it is indicated that we have to put the Heat Controller in learning mode. You can do this by pressing the button 3 times in a row. It is found immediately and the LED first turns white and then red. Now we repeat this operation again to really add it. After entering the SDK code (this is on the packaging), the LED first turns white again and then flashes green. After this we see it appear in my devices.
As soon as you turn on the tap, a one-time calibration will take place to determine what the open/close position is. Give the whole thing 10 minutes to get the right temperature. So be patient.
After some testing, it seems that you cannot set the temperature from the Homey (the signal does not come on) and therefore it is unusable. We have raised this problem with Homey's support and they indicate that they are aware of this problem and are working on a solution.
As soon as this solution is available, we will provide this review with an update.
