SwitchBot Curtain & Meter & Hub & Button

Other links:

Now that we have shown the standard options, it is time to see if a link can also be made with a third system.

IFTTT:

You can connect to the SwitchBot via IFTTT. You need an account for this and you need to give SwitchBot permission. Please note that nowadays IFTTT.com is a paid service. You get 3 options for free.

An advantage of this service is that you can connect multiple devices to it. You could, for example, connect your Google Nest Thermostat to it. Or is it possible to send (and receive) an http request to a controller. With this you send a message that you can receive or send. Most controllers can handle this.

Homey:

If you really want to make things smart, a real smart home controller is of course the best option. The Homey is such a controller that allows you to create more complex rules and easily add devices. The latter requires you to have an APP. This is the case for the SwitchtBot. So we're going to add it.

Add to Homey:

First you connect the SwitchBot products and add them to the SwitchBot APP. The Homey has a Bluetooth chip built in and so does the SwitchBot. So we can link it directly to the Homey. You can also use the WiFi/Cloud option if you also have the SwitchBot Hub. With this option you have less problems with your range. The range of the Homey's BT is somewhat limited.

You log into the Homey APP and press the plus sign and search for SwitchBot. Then we select the Curtain (BLE) and install the APP. Now the Homey will search for the curtains. In my case it finds 2 curtains and I can add them.

Installation screens:

Control:

You can open/close the curtains, set it to a certain position and you can see the signal strength, position of the curtains and the battery level.

The Homey turns each motor into 1 separate curtain, so I see 2 curtains in the APP. In my case it should merge because I have a curtain that opens/closes towards the middle. This is a bit inconvenient if you want to open it. You should then click twice. To solve this, you can create a virtual switch that opens/closes the curtains by means of a flow.

We want the curtains to close when the sun goes down.
