Vera Edge

Conclusion:

This Vera controller has surprised me with its fresh UI and easy functionalities. Adding modules is arranged very neatly and clearly. The logging is great. You can see exactly where things are not going well. Other controllers can learn something from this. The scene creator is pretty well put together, but lacks the ability to arrange some complicated things. For a beginner this will suffice, but if you want more you will really have to dive into the programming language. This will not be for everyone.

On the other hand, this controller will offer enough possibilities for an advanced user with some programming experience. What struck me for the rest is the stability of the controller. I had a few times that I could not log in anymore and the system reacted slowly. This should not happen. The support of modules / devices is in good order. It is nice to see a list of names / types. I doubt whether 1,200 devices are really supported.

It is a pity that there is no alarm and climate panel in the Vera as standard. You can of course partly assemble this yourself, because the parts are present. This requires some knowledge and effort. This controller gives me a double feeling. On the one hand, it is nice to work with and everything works very well. On the other hand, it takes too much effort to arrange some complicated matters. In addition, the performance can become an issue.

Support for many devices / modules
Clear interface
Extensive logging option
Not cloud based
Adding modules / devices is very user-friendly
Backup option
Price

A number of components are missing as standard (alarm, climate, etc)
Steep learning curve if you want to create complex rules / scenes
Limited options for creating scenes limited

Thanks to Vera for making this controller available.
